Just about any sabot type will work very well and not do anything to your barrel. All are a priced a little higher than standard "rifled" slugs. Hornady has started loading the big bore bullets (.45 I think) that they use in their Leverevolution ammo.
Link to Hornady. These are supposed to be awesome ballistically and hit like a ton of bricks. I should think these would be suited more to long range and to hunting.
The standard Brenneke style rifled slugs ( 3/4 oz and 1 oz) that most manufacturers put up are very effective for "social purposes" out to 50 yards or so. They are also relatively inexpensive. I have used Federal, Remington and even Wolf. The Wolf rifled slug is super inexpensive and is a good load to learn with. I've got ten 5 round boxes of them in the ammo locker right now. The lead is fairly soft and won't hurt your barrel long term.
